Congratulations to the Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta’s strategic efforts to improve performance and competitiveness at the global level, as UNS continuously expanding its partnership network through collaboration with various internationally reputable institutions! In the AppliedHE Xchange 2025 agenda, Sunday (23/2/2025) UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si. had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with several companies, as well as domestic and foreign universities at InterContinental Bali Resort, Indonesia.
UNS Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Internationalization, and Information, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. in his speech stated that the signing of the MoU is an important step in UNS's commitment to expand international academic collaboration. Prof Irwan further explained “At AppliedHE Xchange 2025, UNS will sign MoUs with 20 domestic and foreign company partners and universities. This step is also the main vision of this agenda, which is to create mutually beneficial collaborations and support the achievement of sustainability within the framework of the SDGs, especially through strengthening strategic partnerships,"
“Through the MoU, MAAP led by its President Dr. Prof. Vadm Eduardo Ma R Santos, AFP (Ret) as one of the selected and invited foreign partners, also hopes to strengthen institutional research, education, and innovation capacity through knowledge transfer, student exchanges, and technology development relevant to global challenges,” says MAAP ERO Director Dr Angelica M Baylon
The CEO of AppliedHE, Mandy Mok, also supported the MoU signing agenda on this occasion. "This agreement is not just a piece of paper, but a door to various extraordinary collaboration opportunities in the future. With the strong spirit and commitment of all parties, this collaboration will produce amazing things that have a real impact," says CEO Mandy.
In the agenda, UNS signed an MoU with eight (8) foreign universities ( Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Africa, , one of them is MAAP (Maritime Academy of Asia and The Pacific, Philippines); which is being ably led by IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador – the MAAP President Vadm Eduardo Ma R Santos, AFP ( Ret), FNI, FIMarEST, well- represented by the MAAP Director for External Relations Prof Angelica M Baylon, PhD as witness. The agenda is both UNS's and MAAP’s commitment to be part of an inclusive, sustainability-oriented, and international education ecosystem that encourages synergy between various parties. The activity is in line with the 17th Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). namely Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasizes the importance of global collaboration to achieve sustainable development.
By establishing a strategic partnership in AppliedHE Xchange 2025, UNS and MAAP are not only strengthening their positions at the global level, but they also make real contributions to the achievement of the SDGs, especially through innovative cross- sector collaborations that have a positive impact on the wider community.
