The Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) Isotel, the Academy’s transient hotel that accommodates trainees, guests, and instructors, has taken a significant step toward sustainability by incorporating biodegradable slippers and eco-friendly toilet articles into its hospitality services.
As part of MAAP’s continuous effort to support environmental conservation, the Isotel now provides guests with bamboo toothbrushes and other biodegradable amenities, replacing traditional plastic-based items. These sustainable products are being supplied by Greenfoot, a local manufacturer committed to producing environmentally friendly toiletries which are biodegradable and Filipino-made products.
This initiative aligns with MAAP’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its commitment to the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) principles, reinforcing the Academy’s dedication to responsible and ethical operations.
This partnership between MAAP and Greenfoot reflects a shared commitment to sustainability, promoting responsible consumption while supporting local businesses. It also serves as an example of how institutions can contribute to the global effort of reducing plastic waste and protecting the environment.
MAAP remains steadfast in integrating sustainability into its operations, proving that even small changes—such as switching to eco-friendly hotel amenities—can make a lasting impact on the environment.
