To provide exceptional maritime transition education that equips mechanical, electrical, and electronics engineers with the skills, knowledge, and competencies required to become highly competent, globally competitive marine engineers.
In accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) No. 7722, otherwise known as the "Higher Education act of 1994", and by the virtue of Commission en Banc (CEB) Resolution No. 006-2017, the Government Authority is granted to Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) to operate the BS Marine Engineering (BSMarE) Bridging Program for BSME, BSEE and BSECE, effective January 10, 2017.
The MAAP Continuing Education Center (CEC) Bridging Program is offered exclusively through sponsorship by accredited shipping companies. Self-funded applicants are not accepted. Only applicants officially endorsed by a sponsoring company are eligible for admission.
The admission process follows a structured procedure involving both the sponsoring company and the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP).
Graduates of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), and Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (BSECE) shall submit their application directly to an accredited sponsoring company.
Required DocumentsThe sponsoring company evaluates the applicant's qualifications, academic credentials, and engineering background.
Qualified applicants take a technical examination administered by the sponsoring company.
Applicants undergo an interview to assess their aptitude, communication skills, motivation, and readiness for a marine engineering career.
Successful applicants undergo a comprehensive medical examination. The medical certificate shall be submitted to and reviewed by the MAAP Infirmary.
Applicants who satisfy all company requirements are formally endorsed to the MAAP Continuing Education Center (CEC).
Upon receipt of the official endorsement, the Continuing Education Center coordinates with the concerned MAAP offices to facilitate admission and enrollment.
In reference to CMO No. 35, Series of 2015, this curriculum outline shall be adopted as the minimum requirement for the completion of the Bridging Program for graduates of BSME, BSEE, and BSECE leading to the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE).
