Center for Advanced Maritime Studies

MAAP continues in its pursuit of excellence with the opening of the Center for Advanced Maritime Studies (CAMS). It is a joint project of the AMOSUP under Dr. Conrado Oca together with the Seafarers' Promotion Fund managed by the All Japan Seamen's Union (AJSU) under Capt. Yoji Fujisawa, and the International Mariners Management Association of Japan (IMMAJ) under Mr. Tsutomu Izuka.

This is the fulfillment of the vision of the late Capt. Gregorio S. Oca, founding chairman of MAAP and president of AMOSUP, who along with VADM Eduardo Ma. R. Santos, AFP (Ret.), sought to improve the lives of Filipino seafarers by expanding welfare services through education and training.

CAMS is headed by an accomplished Technical Superintendent in the person of its AVP for Post Graduate and Executive Director, C/E Rodolfo D. Paiso, MSBM along with the pool of experienced management level officers with graduate degrees. And to ensure that students get global exposure and the benefit of different instructional approaches, CAMS has a "visiting professor program" with well-qualified foreign lecturers who will deliver special seminars on their specialization.

Mission

The Center for Advanced Maritime Studies offers high level educational programs and courses aimed to raise the professional and academic qualifications of Filipino Merchant Marine Officers to prepare them become effective Ship Superintendents and Managers or Academic Supervisor ashore.

CAMS shall also conduct research to solve real life problems and issues that will contribute to the development of the maritime industry and to propagate new process and technology to its stakeholders.

Program Offering

CAMS offer the following graduate programs:

  • Master of Science in Marine Transportation (Marine Superintendent); and
  • Master of Science in Marine Engineering (Technical Superintendent.

These are the first vertically articulated maritime graduate degree programs in the Philippines, incorporating the competence requirements of a Marine or Technical Superintendent as per DNV Standard 3.301.

Graduates of these programs possesses the qualifications and competence of a Marine Superintendent or Technical Superintendent and as academic supervisor in a maritime higher education institution.

Admission Requirement

  • Correctly and completely accomplished Application for Admission (F-001).
  • Photocopy of Management Level License.
  • Letter of Recommendation from the employer or supervisor or former professor.
  • Original copy of Transcript of Records (TOR) & one (1) set photocopy (Copy for: MAAP)
  • One (1) set photocopy of Diploma. 6. Three (3) recent 1 ½” x 2” Passport Size Photo with plain white background.
