The second Issue of MAAP Journal (2005) contained refereed papers that were presented and published at national and international conferences in the AY 2002 – 2004.
In October 2005, MAAP President delivered a Keynote message for the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) Conference, held at the World Maritime University (WMU), Malmo Sweden.
On November 23, 2005, MAAP is represented in the 6th Lloyds List Manning and Training Conference (LSM) and presented a collaborative research study, "Aspirations of Filipino Cadets Going To Sea Vis-a Vis UK Cadets". This paper formed part of the 2005 LSM proceedings and to be published at the Philippine Journal in MET (PJMET).
On November 24-25, 2005, MAAP hosted the Association of Maritime and Training Institutions in the Asia and the Pacific (AMETIAP) Conference. MAAP presented various papers: “Dual Course in MAAP: Recent Development in MET Philippines” and “AUNP Research Networking Project: Its Impact on the Human Resource Development in MAAP .” The collaborative research paper “Seafarer perceptions of CBT on Board: an AUNP funded study”, by MAAP (Dr Baylon), PMMA (Capt Del Rosario), UPC Spain (Dr Aguado), SMA, Singapore (Capt Yuon Lim), led by SIRC Cardiff University (Dr. Sampson) and funded by the European Commission was also presented.
On November 25, 2006, MAAP beamed with pride during the excellent presentation of its students, the MRESC officers’ 1cl Teri Orlan C. Odal and 1cl Philip Albert Francis Inong on board the TSKFO training ship while transporting the AMETIAP guests/participants to MAAP Bataan. These students were awarded plaque of recognition as the best paper presenters for their paper “Attitude of MAAP Midshipmen Towards the Maritime Career Before and After Shipboard Training“. This was first in the AMETIAP history as awards are bestowed to faculty and staff, not students.
MAAP accomplished a total of 32 research papers in year 2005, 8 by MAAP faculty and staff and 24 by MAAP midshipmen. |
