MAAP goes International On Research Networking

In support to the invitation of Dokuz Eylul University (DEU), Turkey, in their First International PBL in MET Seminar-workshop, MAAP sent an 18-page workshop paper as initial contributions and finally three research papers as contributions. These papers were then published in thePBL in MET Workshop Proceedings”, June 1-3, 2003, DEU Publications (ISBN 975-6981-63-6).

The papers  “Lecture –based Learning  (LBL) vis-à-vis Problem-based Learning (PBL) in MET: The MAAP Instructors Viewpoints” andAssessment Result into a PBL Project Opportunity: Quality Assurance In Action" werepublished in Philippine Journal on MET, Philippines (ISSN –1656-3328) Vol 1 No. 2. July –Dec 2003, and Vol.  2 No. 2 July – Dec 2004 respectively and in the proceedings of the 13th IMLA  (ISBN 5-9509-0013-8) with the theme “Safety at Sea Through Quality Assurance in MET Institutions: Quality Assurance in Action “, Sept 14-17, 2004 Admiral Makarov Maritime Academy, St Petersburg Russia. The paper on PBL " Lecture Journal Form as a Feedback Mechanism Tool for a PBL Project in MET: Quality Assurance in Action " was also included in the 13th IMLA Proceedings.

Also on the same year, MAAP linked with the Seafarers International Research Centre (SIRC), Cardiff University in UK for research networking project generously funded by the European Commission. As member of the ASEAN –EU Research Networking Project Jan 2004- Jan 2006, MAAP participated actively along with the other ASEAN-EU participating maritime schools namely: Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA), Polytechnic University of Catalunya, Barcelona Spain, Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA) with SIRC, Cardiff University as the grant holder.

The MAAP community accomplished a total of 34 research papers in year 2003  – 17 researches by MAAP Faculty and Staff (10 institutional researches, 1 research on a national level and 4 researches on international) and 17 research papers by seventy-seven midshipmen.
